I have been painting full time for over two years following a 14 year career in international law. I paint figurative oil paintings, inspired by early 20th Century artists such as William Nicholson and the Scottish Colourists. Many of my works are still life, but I also paint landscapes and portraits. While I am lucky enough to split my time between Italy, the UK and Pakistan, I paint the things that I see around me.

My first exhibition was as a finalist with the Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize in 2018, and it was an important jump-start to my career, after which I started exhibiting relatively consistently. Since then, I have exhibited at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (2018 and 2019), The Royal West of England Academy, Chelsea Arts Society, Marshwood Arts Awards, and the Russell Gallery summer exhibition 2020. I am primarily self-trained but have undertaken short courses at the Slade, Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, Art Students League of New York, Charles Cecil Studios in Florence and with Julian Merrow-Smith. - Lotta Teale, 2020
